How to use Edit PDF

  1. Click Select PDF file and choose your PDF.
  2. Click the text you want to change and type. Press Enter or click outside it when you're done.
  3. To write something new, choose Add text and click on the page. To hide something, choose Whiteout and drag over it.
  4. Click Save PDF and download your edited file.

Fix a spelling mistake, change a name, a date, an amount or an address, or delete a line, without going back to the original Word file. The editor finds every line of text in your PDF and the font it uses. What you type is drawn in that same font, size and colour, and in most PDFs the old words are taken out of the page completely, not just hidden under a white box.

A PDF usually carries only the letters it already uses. If you type a letter that isn't in it, that letter comes from a closely matching font, such as a look-alike of Arial, Times New Roman or Calibri, so the line still looks the same.

A scanned page is a picture with no text in it. Run it through OCR PDF first, then open the result here: the editor can then find its lines, and a changed line is covered with the paper's colour and written again in a matching font.

Everything happens inside your browser, so your document is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I edit text in a PDF?

Select your PDF, click the words you want to change and type the new ones. Then click Save PDF and download the edited file.

How can I edit a PDF without changing the font?

Just click the text and type. The editor reads the font, size and colour of each line and writes your words the same way, using the PDF's own font.

How do I delete text from a PDF?

Click the line and choose Delete line, or select some words and press Backspace. To hide something that isn't text, like a stamp or a logo, use Whiteout.

Can I edit a PDF on my phone?

Yes. It works in Chrome or Safari on Android phones and iPhones. Use the + button to zoom in on small text.

Will the new text look the same as the rest of the PDF?

Yes. It uses the PDF's own font wherever it can, with the same size and colour. Letters the PDF doesn't contain come from a closely matching font.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

A scan is a picture, so there is no text to click. Run it through OCR PDF first, then open the result here. You can always add text and white out parts of a scan.

Is my file uploaded?

No. The PDF is edited inside your browser.
